ME TIME IS VERY IMPORTANT

"Self-love, is not so vile a sin as self-neglecting."
(William Shakespeare)

Self carrying is being responsible, and getting some "me time" is the best way to care for yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally. Remember that all the time spent nursing yourself will enrich and strengthen your time and your relationship with others. That is the secret to great human happiness, and once you start, you will set yourself on a path that will lead to places of great beauty and contentment.

Berit Brogaard, a professor of psychology and philosophy says, “Relieving stress can lower blood pressure, help you sleep better, and even help you maintain a healthy weight”.

To focus on yourself can help boost your energy and your emotional health. Taking time out of your hectic schedule just for yourself helps you live a healthier and a happy life.

Even the best car in the world stops at the gas station. "Me Time" is the time you recharge your energy. It allows you to put back what you have given to others and prepares you to give more!

In our effort to take care of everyone around us, we mothers usually ends up compromising for ourselves. Making time for yourself is not a big deal; it is simply vitalizing yourself so that you can reconnect with your family and friends. With all their other obligations, many women simply don't take the time to nurture themselves. Women are taught that their first priority is to take care of others before they take care of themselves.

Why "We don't put ourselves first". It is so easy, why are so many moms are unable to give themselves any "Me Time"?

First: They may not be aware of its importance.
Second: Even if they are, they may not have the habit to do so.
Third: They are aware of it and even have habit but they say that “I don’t have a time”.

Of course, as any busy woman knows, finding golden hour isn't always easy. You need to be aggressive and determined in carving out some special time for yourself.

Here are some of the things you can consider:
  • Call or visit an old friend
  • Pamper yourself in a spa
  • Watch a TV play or movie
  • Attend a health talk
  • Read an inspiring story
  • Go for a walk in the park
  • Write in a journal or blog
Express your inner creativity. Learn a new skill that will stimulate your body and mind. Do anything that reminds you that you have value to the world.

Don’t compromise yourself. You are all you’ve got. There is no yesterday, no tomorrow, it’s all the same …. day. – Janis Joplin

  2. i read someones job description on FB as "self employed;BOSS"..& that is almost true to my understanding..we have taken up a responsibility to nurture a family..tend to our kids..assist our husbands,so on..INDICATION:self employed!! BOSS too bcoz we are the ones running & manipulating the daily chores, therefore we NEED to GRAB some time for ourselves;may it be an amble in a park, texting jokes to friends, social networking with F&F,enriching knowledge via books, periodicals, visit to a library or internet...choice is YOURS!
